Electrical Design Engineering Internship

About the team:

We are a team of engineers experienced both in the design and manufacture of driving simulators, as well as their use in vehicle development. We develop, deliver and support outstanding, ground-breaking simulators and motion generators that support the engineering that leads to winning performance on the track.

Job Purpose

An exciting opportunity has opened up with a leading engineering company based in Bristol for an Electrical Design Internship or 1 year placement. This role offers the chance to gain hands-on experience working alongside a world-class engineering team, designing and developing advanced, market-leading machinery for high-profile clients in the automotive industry.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in the design and development of cutting-edge technologies for major automotive manufacturers.
  • Support the creation of electrical design specifications under the guidance of experienced engineers.
  • Help produce and maintain technical documentation to support design projects.
  • Contribute to the design and specification of electrical control panels and systems.
  • Work with electrical wiring diagrams and schematics, learning to create and review these designs.
  • Assist in managing Bill of Materials (BoM) data for electrical components.
  • Participate in the integration and commissioning of electrical power and control systems on-site.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Currently studying or recently completed an undergraduate or graduate degree (BSc, BEng, MSc, MEng, HND, or HNC) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Some familiarity with electrical CAD software (AutoCAD, Eplan, etc.) – any prior experience is a plus but not required.
  • A passion for learning and solving technical challenges in a dynamic engineering environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • A positive, ‘can-do’ attitude and eagerness to take on new challenges.
  • A genuine interest in new technologies and product development.
