Overhead Lines - LE1, L2, Foreman & OHL Operations Manager

Location: UK-wide - candidates can be based anywhere in the UK

Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Shift Pattern: 10-hour shifts | Weekend on / Weekend off

Travel: Site-based with regular UK travel and overnight stays

ARCA Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading UK energy and infrastructure business for experienced LE1 Overhead Linesmen, L2 Operatives, OHL Foremen and OHL Operations Managers to join its growing transmission and distribution team.

Our client delivers specialist engineering and operational services across the UK energy and utilities sector, including high-voltage networks, renewables and grid connection projects.

The Opportunities

We are looking for experienced OHL professionals at a number of levels, from L2 Operatives through to experienced LE1s, OHL Foremen and OHL Operations Managers.

Candidates can be based anywhere in the UK, with the roles involving site-based work, regular UK travel and overnight stays depending on project requirements.

Depending on your level of experience and competencies, responsibilities may include:

  • Overhead line construction, maintenance, refurbishment and dismantling.
  • Foundations, tower erection and conductor stringing.
  • Installation of conductors, earth wires, insulators, fittings and associated equipment.
  • Working to RAMS, drawings, specifications and HSEQ requirements.
  • Supporting and mentoring junior operatives and trainees.
  • Supervising site teams and ensuring safe, efficient delivery of works.
  • Managing site activities, resources, programmes and productivity.
  • Identifying and reporting operational, safety and programme issues.
  • Liaising with clients, project teams, subcontractors and other stakeholders.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time and to the required quality standards.

We're Looking For

We're interested in speaking with candidates who have experience within UK transmission and distribution OHL projects, including:

  • L2 / LE2 Operatives
  • LE1 Overhead Linesmen
  • OHL Foremen / Chargehands
  • OHL Operations Managers

Ideally, candidates will have experience working on UK transmission networks, particularly projects involving National Grid and/or Scottish Power.

Experience working on 132kV tower networks is also highly desirable, particularly for candidates looking to upskill and progress their OHL career into higher-level technical, supervisory or management positions.

Experience across transmission and distribution networks will be considered, with the right training and development opportunities available for candidates looking to progress.

Experience on 132kV–400kV OHL projects is highly desirable, along with a strong understanding of RAMS, working at height, safe systems of work and HSEQ requirements.

Relevant National Grid competencies and authorisations are advantageous.

Additional desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • First Aid
  • Rescue from Height
  • CPCS
  • EUSR / CSCS
  • Lifting and rigging experience
  • Strong knowledge of construction drawings and specifications
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Proven leadership or supervisory experience for Foreman and Operations Manager positions
